Nominations announced for Americas Tax Awards 2011

Who will come out on top at International Tax Review’s Americas Tax Awards next month?

The awards will be presented during a dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City on Tuesday September 27. Please click here to find out if your firm has been nominated.

The awards will go to the firms that have shown innovation and ingenuity in their work for clients in in North and South America between June 2010 and June 2011. The winners and runners-up will also be featured in the November 2011 issue of International Tax Review.

Thirty regional and 38 tax, transfer pricing and tax disputes awards in 17 national and US city areas will be presented.

Awards will be presented to firms in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, US (Chicago; Houston & Dallas; Los Angeles; New York; San Francisco Area and Washington, DC), Uruguay and Venezuela.

The regional awards cover tax, transfer pricing, tax disputes and indirect tax, and the leading firms for dealing with tax issues in the industry categories of banking, M&A, energy, private equity and media and entertainment. There are also awards for the Tax Court of Canada firm of the year and the top firm of the year for representation in the US Tax Court. The other awards are for restructuring in North and South America, and for the best use of the internet.

In addition to awards for tax advisers and lawyers, two in-house tax departments will also receive recognition, one each in North and South America.

The only individual award is called the Editor’s Choice, which is given to the person who has made a significant impact on tax practice and administration in the Americas in the time period. There is no shortlist for this award, for which the winner will be announced on the night of the dinner.
