Uruguay is one of the few countries in South America that still collects taxes following the source principle. Under this principle, investments located and activities performed outside Uruguayan territory are not subject to Corporate Income Tax, regardless of nationality, domicile or residence of the parties participating in the transactions and the place where the transaction agreements are made.
