August 19, 2010
The Canadian mutual agreement procedure (MAP) programme saw an increase in the number of accepted and completed cases in the past year.
According to the Canadian Revenue Agencys 2010 report on the state of the programme, 433 new cases were accepted this year, and 420 were completed. This is an increase from 2009 levels, when 347 cases were accepted and 306 were completed.
The programme is meant to help taxpayers resolve cases of double taxation or taxation not in accordance with a tax treaty.
