HP India challenges the DRI’s $318 million tax evasion claim

One of the world’s largest technology companies is challenging the Indian Directorate of Revenue Intelligence’s biggest claim to date.
Hewlett Packard, which was accused by Indias Directorate of Revenue Intelligence of tax evasion, is challenging the 14.3 billion rupee ($318 million) claim. The DRI alleges that Hewlett Packard India Sales Private Limited has been evading customs duty by undervaluing components imported from its international partner companies. HP denies the allegations and is challenging the claim through the courts.
