The global market trend requires businesses to respond and adapt to the market place ever-more quickly. Multinational companies are continually redesigning concepts, methods and strategies to conduct business and modify practices to meet customer needs and respond to competitive forces. This requires a periodic revaluation of how business is being conducted to deliver high quality products efficiently and at competitive prices. This article focuses on traditional toll (consignment) manufacturing and contract manufacturing arrangements mostly conducted in Mexico using so-called “Maquiladoras”.
