Making Kazakhstan’s transfer pricing policy compatible with WTO accession

Kazakhstan continues its quest for elusive WTO accession under unspoken pressure to accede simultaneously with or before the Russian Federation. To support this attempt, the Kazakhstan government has undertaken a number of tax and related reforms. Included in this reform package is a revised transfer pricing law which will be effective from January 1 2009. The new law significantly changes the transfer pricing policy adopted by the Kazakhstan authorities with a view toward WTO accession and an overall improvement in tax administration.
