New Zealand Revenue unveils its transfer pricing focus

Tax authority says it will concentrate on intangibles and restructuring

New Zealand’s Inland Revenue Department has set out its targets for 2008 on new transfer pricing pages on its website. The department says that transfer pricing documentation will be critical. The organisation says: “Transfer pricing documentation is central to the process of justifying and explaining pricing of cross-border transactions. A company’s main purpose in preparing and maintaining documentation should be to place itself in the position where it can readily demonstrate to us that its transfer prices are consistent with the arm’s length principle.
