Mining contracts come under renewed scrutiny in Congo
A network of campaign groups have called for new legislation to make transfer pricing more transparent in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This follows the report of the countrys Mines Review Commission last week which said that the government was losing tax revenues due to its weak position compared with international mining companies. The commission called for the wholesale restructuring of the mining sector in the jurisdiction. It argues for the renegotiation of contracts with international mining companies. These deals were advantageous to the companies and not for Congo, it said.
